I went down to St. Louis to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. While it wasn’t the grandest of celebrations, it was still good and I’m glad I got to spend time with a quality friend.
Though …

Here is a list of books that either I own or wish to read in the future. This seems to be a nice solid list of Catholic faith and education. If you have others to offer or change, please let me know. Note that all links are to books on Amazon.com.

Jesus

Mary

Apostles

Saints

Books about and/or by Saints.

Bibles and Bible study

Books that are either bibles or those that focus on bible study.

The Mass and Fundamentals of Catholicism

Praying

Theology of the Body

Latin

On learning the language.

Misc

Other interesting books that don’t easily fit into other categories.

Pretty good list. I think I have read 90 percent of it.

I wonder if the The Catholic Study Bible, Second Edition is better the first edition which was horrid. The NAB translation is tone death, but the notes were really bad, and in some cases heretical.

Thanks, it’s pretty much my list of books I hope to get over time or have already.

I’m not sure, yet saw it had good ratings. I’m not a fan of NAB so much, yet it’s the officlal version of litergy in the States, so forcing myself to come around to it… plus it’s what’s used in LOTH. I’ll be sure to write a review of that book when I get it, then.

Dandy-fine list, Christopher! To it, I heartily recommend a few stellar books on Joseph that are Most Excellent:

“Joseph in the New Testament”, by Fr. Larry Toschi, OSJ
    http://is.gd/QJZ

“Joseph the Silent”, by Michel Gasnier, OP
    http://is.gd/QJU
(If you only ever read one book on Joseph, make it this one!)

“The Life and Glories of St. Joseph”, by Edward Healy Thompson, MA
    http://is.gd/QJV

“Saint Joseph and the Third Millennium”, by Michael D. Griffin, OCD

Great list. At the top of the list on books on prayer, I’d add:

Fire Within: St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and the Gospel-On Prayer by Fr. Thomas Dubay, SM

Christopher, this is a very comprehensive list! I would like to add one more book to your section on Saints.

My Cousin the Saint is a new book by Justin Catanoso that details the physcial and spiritual journey he takes after finding out his grandfather’s first cousin will be among the last saints canonized by Pope John Paul II!

His book is available on Amazon.com and you can check out Justin’s Web site and blog at http://www.justincatanoso.com

(For full disclosure, I work for the PR firm that is helping to promote Mr. Catanoso’s book, but it really is great!)

What about The Story of a Soul by St Thérèse de Lisieux? And any book by the Holy Father is worth a read! Also I would suggest some basic philosophy. St Thomas will make very little sense without it.

    But what would I know!?!?
