Me

Store my vCard in your address book (updated 05/28/08).
Hello, my name is Christopher Humphries. I work as a software developer and UNIX/Linux systems administrator for important clients. I have been in this industry since a little before the dotcom boombubble. My main focus seems to be around making life easier and jobs more efficient in the way that data is processed and stored, as well as maintaining stability and reliability of those systems.
I currently work for BurstNET Technologies, Inc.. I have worked for DevIS and Pointone in the past, as well as some other companies and consulting contracts.
I live in Scranton, PA, USA. It’s not that exciting. Yes, like on “The Office” (US), yet that’s just a show and they aren’t actually here.
My current techie passions right now are Catalyst, Java, Perl and Mac. I’m currently working on writing a Perl book, should be interesting!
Outside of techie things, I like traveling, cooking and tasting new foods, survival horror (like zombie movies), reading about Irish history, hanging out with friends. I am now a new fan of the Guitar Hero games and Rock Band, yet definitely am not a hero and certainly don’t rock at either.
Some of my favorite TV shows: Smallville, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Six Feet Under, Californication, Weeds, Lost, Sopranos, Dexter, South Park, LA Ink, Battlestar Gallactica (new one), Seinfeld, Flight of the Conchords, and Heroes.
I’m currently attending college online, WGU, working on getting a BS in IT - Software Development. It’s a fully accredited college and very flexible for those of us that already have careers so need flexible schedules and requirements.
This Site
From having different content on different sites, I decided to merge everything together under one site. The content ranges from full articles to little tidbits of what I find interesting, from full technical articles to journal type posts on religion.
All categories are able to be followed independently, as I realize that not everyone cares about everything. If you’re interested in just tidbits and techie stuff, then you can just follow that.
The front page attempts to summarize everything on the site at a glance.
Some details about this site and server are:
- Ubuntu operating in a Linode.com account.
- Wordpress running the Revolution Magazine theme, that I’m still making changes to.
